In
October 2000 iTools’ founders
Managing
Director Chris Bulman and Technical
Director Jan Fischer were working
together on a large IT project. They
found that it was hard to share information,
track spreadsheets, analyse risks,
identify problems, and report the
confusing mass of information to stakeholders.
According to Mr Fischer, “We
worked on projects where the developers
were based in London, the client was
in New York and beta testing was in
Australia. A large part of the project
was spent updating spreadsheets and
trying to share information using
manual tools – it was near impossible
and a lot of time was wasted in updating
data and reporting processes.”
The pain this caused got them thinking,
and they started developing a web-based
project management tool.
iTools developed their flagship product
iTools Control – a web-based
project control and management tool
that improves governance and control
over a complex programme of projects.
Less than two years later, multinational
giants such as IBM
UK Global Consultancy Services
use iTools Control as their solution
for managing complexity. On a single
project, they have hundeds of project
personal. The sheer scale demonstrates
the complexity of project and programme
management in today’s world,
and how this internet-based project
management and control solution is
the way forward.
